GETTING TO KNOW OUR ANTHEM BLEND

Easy-going, sweet & balanced, Anthem Blend works well as a classic espresso, or for those who like a filter with a bit more body - making it a great gateway into the specialty coffee world, or a nice surprise for a seasoned specialty coffee drinker.

Anthem Blend is our gateway to the world of specialty coffee. Easygoing, familiar, yet complex and surprising enough to satisfy the seasoned coffee amateur in your life. Sweet and balanced, this blend works well for espresso brewing and for those who enjoy a full-bodied and satisfying filter or French Press coffee.

Our last version of Anthem Blend features coffees from 3 amazing coffee producing countries: Brazil, Colombia and Guatemala.

Featuring stunning flavours of cacao and chocolate, forest fruits with notes of cherry and plums, all wrapped in a honey, syrupy texture.

From the cool, green hills of Sul de Minas we source the beans produced at Fazenda Samambaia. Sul de Minas provides ideal conditions for coffee growing of some of Brazil's finest beans.

The region is known locally as ‘Vertentes’, because it forms a border between two very important basins in Brazil: the Grande River Basin (which runs to the south) and the São Francisco River Basin (which runs to the northeast).

Henrique Dias Cambraia, farmer of Fazenda Samambaia, attributes the success of his farm to a combination of various factors: the farm’s geographic location, competent technical management of the planting fields, constant training and quality control programs; and, most importantly, the involvement of the whole team that works on the farm.

We chose the varietal called Topazio (resulting from the cross between Mundo Novo and Yellow Catuai) processed with a natural method. It gives us fruity, slightly citrusy, naturally sweet nutty and milk chocolate flavours.

To complement the Brazilian profile, we chose a lot produced in La Plata, region of Huila, Colombia.

"La Estrella del Ostro" gets its name from the Star of the Southern Wind, which shines just above the mountain range where this coffee is grown. On a clear night, this bright star points towards the top of the mountain in La Plata. Estrella del Ostro started with a few small-scale producers from the township of Belen and with the passage of time, contributing producers has increased.

This coffee is a blend of coffee varieties Castillo, Caturra and Colombia that are sun-dried on parabolic covered patios and covered raised beds.

It’s very fruity, with a mix of caramel and juicy notes such as red apple, pomegranate and raspberry. To add up a tropical hint and create a complex and balanced blend, as the third component we chose a washed coffee from Guatemala.

The importing partner, Primavera Coffee, work in Guatemala with a focus on sourcing excellent coffee from independent producers as well as cooperatives. Primavera always strive to maximise value for producers, provide support to growing communities and offer full traceability for us, as roaster buyers.

The Axola Cooperative, based in Petatan, works together to market and sell their high quality coffee. The members of the cooperative are primarily of Mayan Popti heritage, and the name ‘Axola’ means “ruins around the river” in their indigenous language.

As a group, they prioritise the participation of women and seek to improve the quality of life for every member of their community. They also consider the environmental and social well-being of the community as an integral part of their mission.

The Axola coffee is clean and sweet, with subtle notes of red apple and mango - a smooth milk chocolate mouthfeel and nougat finish shine through the cup.

Simply said; this Anthem Blend is complex and balanced coffee. Rich notes of cacao and chocolate, forest fruit jam with the hints of cherry and plums, all wrapped in a syrupy texture with a very sweet aftertaste of mango and honey.
